Papertrey Ink's MIM #169: Vellum

Happy Friday and Shabbat Shalom!

I'm back with another card using *drum roll*...yep,vellum. Shocked I'm sure. My stepmother needed an engagement card, so I went into my craft room {which my sister describes as follows: "Wow, it looks like a pinata filled with confetti and sparkles burst in here...yep, that's about right, but I digress} and whipped this card up. I used the dies from Embellished Elegance and die cut vellum, white cardstock, shimmering text paper and started layering to create a wreath. I then slipped in some sequins in gold, silver and pearlescent white. Some peeking through the vellum layers, others accenting on top. Then I die cut some of the flowers from the set and heat embossed them in gold. This was all adhered to the beautiful and soft patterned paper from the Oh Darling collection (Crate Pa

per). Then to add texture and interested I adhered a large strip of lace to the bottom (as shown in this photo) and a thinner strip at the top. I then created the above double bow using sheer, gold metallic ribbon from The Ribbon Retreat. Finally adhered it all to my card base, rounded the corners to the right... et voila! Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!

As a special treat (I hope you view it as such :) here are a couple of photos of my son and his father at the pool whilst we were on vacation...man do I love Summer and those boys!

And another...

Yes, this is a notebook...wanted to make one despite having missed Erin's MIM for this DIY beauty. While it is not a card project, the color scheme was absolutely inspired by the photo for the hop:

PTI's June 2014 Bloghop

Hello all,

Yep today is the day, the day that we get to show off our skills and challenge ourselves to create something a bit different, a bit out of our comfort zone...while having a ton of fun, of course! Here is my first submission inspired by this photo:

June Blog Hop Inspiration

Such fun colors! I generally create cards that are very layered, lots of texture and ribbon etc, so for me while this card is not classically CAS, this is definitely more white space than I am generally used to! Hope you enjoy!

Supplies: PTI unless otherwise specified
Stamps: Bold Bouquet and Wet Paint I
Dies: Bold Bouquet
Cardstock: Paper and More and Michaels'
Ink: Sweet Blush, Tropical Teal; Hero Arts' Mint Julep & Orange Soda;Simon Says Stamp Ink Doll Pink; Ranger Distress Ink Mustard Seed and Memento's Tuxedo Black

Papertrey Ink's MIM #169: Vellum Overlays

When I saw this week's Make It Monday on Nichole Heady's blog, I let out a quick "Yaaaaay!!!" followed by a "Yippyyyyy!!". :) I have recently been on a "vellum kick" so I was excited to be able to play more with my new love that is this beautiful translucent paper. I just believe it adds such elegance and softness to a project like no other piece of paper can--truly magical! So here is one (surely to be one of many) project for this week's challenge... hope you enjoy it as much as I did in creating this card!

And until next time... Craft on!

MIM #169: Chalk and Embossing No. 2

Loving this technique so I could not possibly stop at just one card! I also tho
For this card, as it is a sympathy card, I went with decidedly more muted colors. I was inspired by this week's inspiration image from the Curtain Call challenge here. While I didn't include the soft pink, it was the pastel colors, softness and stems that 'spoke' to me! Sweet pea edited I used an embossing folder from Sizzix (I believe it's from a holiday bundled set) and used my soft pastels to add color. Then I inked up my Cutting Garden set to create the background. The sentiment is from Meadow Greens.

A close up of the sentiment that was heat embossed on vellum.

Thanks for stopping by and craft on!

MIM #169:Chalk and embossing!

Hello all,

I am back! In case you were wondering--No I did not fall into a deep chasm and spent the past month clawing myself up; no I did not hop on Route 66 (which passes fairly close by our house) and start walking until I hit the ocean; and no, I most certainly did not stop loving this wonderful craft obsession. My other half, my 3-year-old son and I hit the road and drove to Las Vegas and then California for a family wedding and our eldest nephew's high school graduation. As I am chronically ill and more bionic than not (it seems), with oxygen machine, wheelchair among other 'life-sustaining' paraphernalia in tow, it makes for quite a packing ordeal. Making mobile a makeshift hospital doesn't happen overnight...ask my hubby! ;) So in any case, I'm back, exhausted but was itching to craft!!! Here is one of my submission's to this week's MIM with Melissa Phillips-- as always, so incredibly beautiful and feminine...I am in awe of her work!!

I think I was channeling Betsy Veldman here with my color selection-- I just am loving the Summer sunshine and was inspired by colors that were bright and rich, especially in contrast to the soft chalk background.
Here's a close up... such a fun technique!

I'll be back with more and until then...
